BlueDragon Blog
Here you'll find tips and information about making the most of BlueDragon, which offers several compelling implementation alternatives for your CFML applications. This blog was created originally by Charlie Arehart, who was New Atlanta CTO from 2003-2006.,He has since moved on to become an independent consultant but continues to answer comments raised in existing blog entries. BlueDragon continues, and you should look to the newer BlueDragon blog, from New Atlanta president, Vince Bonfanti, for more updated information.

BlueDragon 6.1 Beta Released

posted Friday, 28 November 2003
New Atlanta announced last week the release of BlueDragon 6.1 beta, a substantial update to the BlueDragon suite of products (standalone Server and Server JX, BlueDragon/J2EE, and BlueDragon/.NET). New features of BlueDragon 6.1 include:
  • CFCs
  • Web Services
  • XML
  • Tag-based UDFs
  • C++ CFX tags
  • Internationalization / UNICODE
  • CFSEARCH
  • Updated Admin Console
  • Enhanced CF5 Compatibility
  • Performance Improvements
  • JDK 1.4.2
  • and more!
New platforms supported by BlueDragon 6.1 in addition to those already supported by BlueDragon 3.0.2, include:
  • Windows 2003
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 2.1
  • Mac OS X
  • Apache 2

BlueDragon 6.1 is a free upgrade for licensed customers of BlueDragon 3.0, and of course free trials and free development editions are available at the New Atlanta site. (The free Server edition does not include the MX-related enhancements listed above, but does offer all the others.)

Work on the .NET edition will continue in earnest with the 6.1 release now complete, with a beta expected in coming months. (But you don't need to wait to install BlueDragon on .NET machines. See my previous blog entry on this topic.)

For more information on the new release, see the New Atlanta site. Don't miss the self-help pages, in particular, which provide links to the docs, FAQs, our discussion list, a bug tracking system, and more.

I download the FREE edition of the 6.1 beta but cannot get a MySQL datasource to work. Cannot find the "WEB-INF/lib" folder the self help mentions.

Peter, thanks for reminding me of this. The FAQ was in need of some clarification, and it's now been updated. I think you'll find it answers the questions and guides you accordingly. Check it out. If you have any further feedback, I'd welcome it (but drop me a line directly to be sure I get the note from you).
